All in all, a brilliant little invention by Sony! Zero wires and noise canceling were my priorities, and while expensive, I am really enjoying these. I have them in black and wear them to the gym and just about everywhere else I go, sometimes I only wear the left one. I almost always keep the charging case plugged into the car. The charging case bumps this product up to 5-stars for me, just make sure you press them in snuggly and wait a moment for the charging indicator to light up. Noise canceling isn’t as amazing as full headphones like Sony WH1000XM2 or Bose QuietComfort 35 II, but it definitely makes a difference. Love that you can make adjustments in the app on Android, and I assume iOS. It takes a bit of practice to sort of twist these into your ears, but once in, they are in to stay. All in all, a brilliant little invention by Sony!UPDATE:Oops, no need to twist these into place like I originally wrote, doing so seems to have irritated my ears and resulted in some dry skin up there.Comfort Ear Natural Moisturizer cleared that up, no more twisting them into place and my ears are doing a lot better.UPDATE (after a year of use):Using these daily and really enjoying them, the battery and charging case seems to be holding up well. It is necessary to clean up any wax build-up every few weeks, a few minutes and about 6 q-tips and the case and earbuds are good as new. If I can get a couple of more years out of these they will have been one of my best investments.
Good Stuff. True wireless that stays in and works. Very good sound and excellent fit without look obnoxious in ear. Don’t lose the case cuz it’s a pair and you can’t get another without buying a set of earphones.
Decent, but there are better options. These are okay.If it were five years ago, they would be impressive, but since then the competition has increased and is hard to beat.They are fairly large, and although they hung onto my particular ears, I was always very conscious of wearing them. That gets annoying, fast.The case they come in has a battery to recharge them and is a nifty design that is easy to open once you try it a few times. It is also rounded and fits well in a pocket.Pairing went okay, but you’ll need to download yet another app to manage them.The biggest drawback is the competition. Bose, Apple, and several others offer better units for the same or less money.
No ANC, minimum noise isolation, occasional disconnect. Yes, it does stay in ears securely and comfortably.However:- No active noise canceling: I can not tell the difference between ANC mode and normal mode, except for a bit of extra white noise.- Minimum noise isolation.- Occasionally, sound from the right piece drops completely, and need reboot to fix.
Excellent sound and great for sport. I have them now for about a little more than a month and bought them for my sports activities — I had several opportunities to test them while running and working out (gym, parkour, circuit training).
Set-up (pairing and app download, settings) was very simple and worked right away. The earbuds came partially charged and I put them in the case to charge completely.
For my activities the battery life is fully sufficient and since I put them back in the case (which is the charger as well) afterwards they re-charge and would have 70% after 15 min (as the manual says). A complete charge of the earbuds is 1.5 hours. The case requires 3 hrs and would re-charge the earbuds 2 more times which brings the total to 9 hrs. Completely ok for me.
In the app settings you can choose between Priority on Sound or Priority on Connection. The default setting is Priority on Connection. I changed that to Prio on Sound Quality because on an iPhone it changes the audio codec to AAC (on iPhones) instead of using SBC. The manual said that SBC consumes more battery power than AAC mode and with AAC I am getting the 3 hrs instead of 2.5 hours battery life with SBC. I had no connection issues so far. It’s Bluetooth and you have to be in the Bluetooth range, that’s for sure.
Sound with noise cancelation works as expected and the Ambient sound setting (either geared towards voice or general ambient noise) works well as long as you do not have the music very loud. That makes sense I guess.
I had initially some problems to have the earbuds stay in my ears, however, after I figured out how to put them in, I have no issues while really moving a lot during my workouts. I used the Large arc support instead of the default Medium arc.
I am sweating a lot and had no issues so far. I did not try them during rain though.
I tested the hands-free function in connection with SIRI on my iPhone and it works just fine: I turn up or down the volume or switch to the next track. Therefore I do not need further buttons on the earbuds to adjust the volume. Also, I usually have my phone close-by and I often change volume on the phone.
During phone calls only the left earbud is utilized and active which is a little weird in the beginning, but I think I do not care.
People can hear me well, so I guess the mic works as expected.
The sound is great (for me) and I am using one of the equalizer presets in the app. You cannot modify the equalizer beyond the presets, but that is fine with me. Maybe a future software update adds more customization.
Overall I am very happy with my choice.
Great for audio. Not so great for video. I’ll start off by saying I detest earbud headphones. I don’t like having to shove something down my ear to produce a great sound. I don’t like how they feel when they are in my ear. And earbuds always fall out of my ears. Always. Which is another reason I detest earbuds. For years I’ve been purchasing the Sony AS210. I LOVE the design of the AS210. The earcups are placed just outside my ear canal and the loops keep them stayed in place. Sadly, it seems the AS210s are being phased out or maybe I’m just unlucky that I can no longer find them in any of my usual local stores. I found myself needing to replace my AS210s and after visiting or calling every local consumer audio/electronics store, I felt that maybe it was time to move on. Parting is such sweet sorrow. I saw the selection for Sony headphones at a local store and initially purchased the Sony 1000X. As expected the buds kept falling out of my ears no matter what combination of fins and earbud tips I used. I exchanged the 1000X for the SP700N. The Arc supporters made a GARGANTUAN difference in “wearability” for me. I drove, walked, jogged, jumped, etc and the earbuds stayed in my ears. Totally surprised me. The earbud tips never produced an A++ seal for me but I think that’s due to the shape of my inner ear. Overall, these earbuds helped me realize how convenient earbuds can be.
The Good
– Sweat resistant – I didn’t realize until after I purchased the 1000Xs that the 1000Xs were not sweat resistant (which is another reason I exchanged them). The SB700Ns are sweat resistant. I didn’t sweat profusely but I sweated enough. Living in the South, we can go for weeks, if not months with the temperature over 100 deg F. You can avoid being outside but eventually yardwork needs to be done. The 700Ns worked flawlessly with me sweating and outside in hot weather.
– Active noise cancellation (ANC) – I didn’t ride any planes but in my daily routine (work, running errands, etc) and a few road trips, the noise cancellation was great: lawnmower is a dim hum; A/C running full blast in my car is a dim hum; outside traffic noise is non-existent; my wife sitting next to me talking…well, thank goodness for the ambient mode lol.
– Modes of noise cancellation – (FYI you have four modes: full mode, voice mode, ambient/pass-thru mode, and off) This is a feature that shows Sony is thinking of the customer. I do have other active noise cancelling headphones (a wireless headband; a wired headband; and an around-the-ear “necklace”) that do not optional modes of ANC: the ANC is either on or off. I did not think having an ambient mode was useful…until my wife asked me if I heard her even though the buds were in my ears. My answer was yes, and I heard her mostly clearly using voice or ambient mode. With ANC in full mode and the music paused (and making sure I had a good seal at that time), I could barely hear her even though she was standing in front of me. I only knew she was talking to me because she was facing me. If her back was to me, I’d have never known she was talking to me. I switched to ambient mode and I could hear her and respond accordingly.
– Arc supporters/Earbuds – These earbuds stayed in my ears despite my various activities as described above. I’ve tried other earbud headphones from other companies and the buds simply were not as comfortable as the ones by Sony. Again, keep in mind that prior to the 700Ns, I was pessimistic about the “feel” of earbuds. These convinced me that earbuds can be comfortable to wear.
– Sound quality – Keep in mind that sound quality for wireless earphones will never be equal to the quality of wired earphones but the quality from these earbuds was really good, even with me not being able to obtain a great seal all the time (way to go Sony!). I used ANC most of the time I wore these, but even without ANC, the sound was good enough for me. The bass boost can be overpowering at times and I’d like to be able to make the bass boost an option instead of a default. (Personal thought – Why not slightly boost the highs as a default since humans undergo a natural hearing loss to high frequencies over the passage of time.)
– Connection – As expected I did experience a few drop in sound maybe twice or thrice an hour when playing a song but otherwise the connection was great. (FYI: You can use the app to switch from priority for connection to priority for sound quality. I switched back and forth and didn’t see a noticeable change in the operation or sound quality of the earbuds.)
The Not-So-Good
– It would be really nice to have a volume control on the buds somewhere instead of having to use my cell phone or tablet or laptop to adjust the volume. Personally, I’m spoiled on using a remote volume control feature. My other wireless headphones have volume control on the headphones. Plus I use a bluetooth (BT) streamer for my wired headphones and my BT streamers have volume control. All this means is that I don’t have to pull out my phone to adjust the volume. At all. I’m used to that. I’d like that same course of action continued with 700Ns.
– Phone quality – Those listening to me talk via the buds said my voice sounded “tiny,” “tinny,” or “distant.” Also, the caller is only heard in the left earbud and not stereo (i.e. in both right and left earbuds). The microphone picked up on background noises so that whoever I was talking to couldn’t hear me clearly. I eventually reached a point where I would bypass my buds for phone calls.
The Bad
– The charging case – The charging case needs improvement. As one reviewer noted, “the case cover slides to the side so it doesn’t provide any downward pressure on the buds to ensure contact with the charger.” Essentially the cover is flimsy and because it has no downward pressure, I kept checking to make sure the lid was closed when the case was in my bag. Inserting the earbuds into the charging case is awkward and definitely requires correct practice, especially if you are using the Arc supports. There is an interior red light on the earbuds that comes on when the earbuds make contact within the charging case and are charging, but the light was difficult to see. Unless I was in a dark room, I had to look very close at the earbuds to perceive if they were charging. Is it possible to put an easily seen status light inside the case that would indicate if the buds are charging or not? Also, a battery level indicator showing the battery level for each bud and the charger would be nice –> If you take the left bud out and put it in your ear, a voice plays that states the level of the battery BUT, is that the status just for the left bud or for both? Also, there were times I didn’t put the bud straightway into my ear so I had to assume the battery level was not low. Regardless, the cover needs improvement and there needs to be a better way to verify the buds are charging, or at least a way to know the buds are secured in the case. I did like the size of the case but I wouldn’t dare put it in my pocket due to the concern I have for the cover.
Deal Breaker
– Video lag – Ultimately I returned the 700Ns 8 days later because I could not overcome the “hurdle” of the latency with watching videos. The delay between audio and video was at times 2 seconds long. I did update the software and that shortened the time of the lag, but, the lag was still there. As a homeowner, I’m continually looking at YouTube for “How To” videos and the lag was simply not a characteristic I wanted to deal with at the price I paid for the earbuds. I realize because these earbuds are true wireless, there’s not much that can be done.
Neutral Notables
– Yes the battery lasts for “only” 3 hours according to the specs. That’s enough time for me. The longest I wore the earbuds was 2 hours with ANC on.
– I would like the option of foam earbuds like the 1000X has. I
– Streaming Music – I experienced a few seconds of silence every so often (maybe twice an hour) when streaming music.
– Noise Cancellation Modes – You can only switch between On, Ambient and Off with the earbud. The app gives you the option of the Voice mode. It would be nice to have voice mode with the earbud too.
– Auto On – By default, the buds power on when you remove them from the case. I kept forgetting this and would try to “turn them on” after I took them out of the case. This resulted in several face palm moments.
– I would live to have a wire that is used to help keep these attached but without sacrificing the true wireless form. That way, if I do pull out a bud, I don’t have to worry about losing it (think of it as something similar to the strap used to hold sunglasses). It was suggested I purchase the SP600N but after reading the reviews, I’ll pass until some adjustments are made or an upgraded version is produced.
– App – It’s interesting that a user is limited to EQ presets and there isn’t any way you can customize the EQ. I use default settings so it doesn’t make a difference to me but I find it peculiar that my stereo system from 2001 has an option for a custom EQ and yet an audio app released in 2017 and featuring EQ doesn’t have that option. Things that make you go “hmmm?” :p
Multiple flaws, but they have their use. These Sony in-ear headphones kind of looked like a dream-come-true when I found them. Wireless, no cord even between ears, noise cancellation — wow! However, I found their performance somewhat underwhelming. First off, the battery life is not what I’d expect from a Sony product. Admittedly, the noise cancellation itself takes battery power, and it does extend life when you’re not using it. Fortunately, the charging box helps make up for this a bit as well. The charging box has a battery within it, meaning you can charge your headphones on the run. This is a pretty sweet feature, and the irony is that it seems like the battery in the charging box is better than that of the headphones themselves.Second, the noise cancellation feature is not particularly great. It does work, but don’t expect to get the kind of performance their marketing video suggests you’ll experience. Side-by-side comparison of these versus non-NC headphones, you can notice the difference. Thus, I cannot complain too much. So I don’t dock a star for this part of the review.Third, phone calls with these headphones are pretty bad. I’ve had to switch back to my handset multiple times because the person on the other line could not understand me. I cannot trust these to make a call, at all.Fourth, and this is the worst part, the interaction with my android phone is on the verge of abysmal. In particular, I have been utterly stunned at how the headphones do not sync up with video on my phone. This is unfathomably strange, but true. Granted, this is not an issue if the purpose of these headphones for you is primarily music and podcasts, but still this is immensely limiting.In conclusion, I still like these headphones for sure. The audio quality is quite good and I will continue using them. But take note of the issues above. I think it’s fair to dock 2 stars for call quality, battery life, and video syncing. Finally, overall I think these are overpriced for what you’re getting. Perhaps at $99 or less you can overlook certain things mentioned here but at $180 that cannot be justified.
Very low volume. Im a huge Sony fan, from gaming, to TVs and headsets. These in terms of volume are straight trash. I dont care how much base you have the volume is bad.If youre a gamer and have a PS4 and you know the volume of games using a headset on the console. This is what youre getting.I paid $200 for these at Best Buy. What I got was unacceptable. No neat features or nothing. Just wireless earbuds that praise noise cancelling when the buds are designed to cancel noise so Im not sure why it matters.
Terrible bluetooth connection. These are great for working at my desk or exercising indoors. I find that when I’m commuting the bluetooth connection breaks very often, especially when I have the phone in a pocket at hip level. If I move the phone to a higher pocket closer to my ears the connection is better but I’ve had the connection break from one ear by just turning my head. Also, the fact that phone calls are only heard in the left ear is more annoying than I thought it would be. The noise cancelling is pretty good though. The app that you download for it is pretty useless, it doesn’t even tell you the battery percentage of the charging case or the earbuds when they’re charging so you can’t see the progress. I’ve also noticed a 3ish second lag between pausing/changing volume on my phone and when I hear the change in the earbuds. Honestly, I would’ve returned them but I stupidly threw out some of the packaging before using them. With this many headphones on the market don’t settle for one that has a bluetooth so weak that your body breaks the connection.

No quality. The sound is delayed compared to videos pretty badly. It looks and feels like cheap plastic. It wouldn’t let me connect to my laptop after connecting to my phone. Also I can still hear a lot of outside noise when noise cancel is on.

Won’t even take a charge! Selected this as corporate gift for my 15 year employment anniversary. I charged it, used twice (short battery life), For 5 months, nothing i do to it helps. The charging station does not appear to work (no light as described in 1-font instructional paperwork
Can’t charge after 2 years and it stops. I brought this at store. I used often watching youtube. But sometimes the video stops which I didn’t press any buttons. Then, I had to turn off and on to fix it it’s annoying. The main problem is the box which I can charge the buds, doesn’t work after 2 years. I couldn’t use buds anymore since the charging box is no longer available.
MISSED THE TARGET. sp700N has excellent sound quality and the ability to change settings via the available app . I have a number of sets of other brand earbuds and these are the most comfortable by far …. HOWEVER , the Sony sp700 fall short on a few things.
a) battery life is not good
b) the on bud control buttons could be easier to use
c) NO ON BUD VOLUME CONTROL !
….. the ambient sound / noise cancelling works great. these are pretty good earbuds but NOT convenient because of the short battery life and lack of volume control without using the phone , because of those shortcomings Sony really missed the target . These are NOT on the lower end of the price range and many , many less expensive options are available that include All the hands free options that make earbuds easy to use. C’MON SONY YOU CAN DO BETTER THAN THIS FOR THE SELLING PRICE.
Easy to set up. Been looking for a reasonably price earbud set and this is my first purchase in this product.
Sony headphones are Not the best investment. I bought this product on 2020, and added the 1 year guaranty. The first year was working well, 3 hours of listening. Then second year on use, the battery lasted 2 hours; and 3rd year 1 hour of listening. Additional, I always have difficulty with the charger because the “clip” to hold the headset was not holding the headphones and that cause that sometimes they didn’t have any charge at all. Now one of the clip is broken and I cannot charge the headphones. Really bad product, is a waist of money.

Is not that loud as I expected. I actually expected a louder headphones. Cheap material, I wear glasses and it feels comfortable. The music leaks(people around you can hear what you’re listening to). The battery lasts a lot.
Sony Ears. My son loves these earbuds. He lost the charging container for his last pair, so i bought these. They were $20 more than his last pair, but the quality is outstanding. He uses them for school and his digital video tech class. He loves them. The only issue is for him to notice us when he has noise-cancelling on.
Won’t work. Doesn’t work, looked online many issues with product. If purchasing make sure you get a warranty because most likely won’t won’t/ will have issues.
Decent sound but…. I bought it a about 6 weeks ago. I take care of my things. I’ve maintained the earbuds in the case in an interior compartment of my purse. I tooted them out this morning and the case seems to be breaking and becoming unhinged. Very flimsy pease of plastic. I texted the support department and it seems that if the case still charges then it’s still good to go. What has happened with good QA and product warranty? I have 2 other Sony wireless nc headsets and I won’t be purchasing and the quality has significantly degraded.
Button functions are the low score. Can’t believe that I have to double tap to answer an incoming call, but only a single tap for ambient sound turned on. Clearly they’re doing something different than speaking on a mobile with these things. Not even an option to reprogram the call answer button
This is clearly for music listening and none of us people who grew up loving Sony for the ability understand how we function. Was so happy until I could not answer my incoming calls.

If on sale excellent. Comfortable. I got around Christmas when the price was seemingly 50% off retail which seems to happen with headphones. The materials aren’t premium but for me they are comfortable and pair well with my Windows 11 machine and iPhone using the app. Noise canceling is OK. Probably not as good as 300 dollar units but it does cut noise out.

I was looking to buy a good pair of wireless headphones without spending 200$ for a pair from apple and these are pretty good the customizable options are really good for if your listening to Music one minute then listening to a podcast you can get the best experience out of both without having a 1 settings fits all kind of audio the battery has lasted me longer then 8 hours in a single use it could have easily went another 2-4 hours my only gripe about them is the bass definitely not the best in that department even with bass boost customization’s other then that I would definitely recommend them
Bad seller. Delivery was delayed by several days it has been a week and a half I still don’t have my product because of the delivery choice that the vendor chose. I will not get this order I’m going to have to return it. Comfort and Usablility. I have put an extreme amount of milage onto my headphones. They are just so comfortable and easy to use that they have became a part of me. I always have them in my pocket and I uses them for hours every day. I bought a pair of the LinkBuds S thinking that they would be an upgrade on an already phenomenal design, but I found myself disliking how overly engineered they are with all of the features that I found cumbersome and unintuitive. After a few days I returned the LinkBuds and came back to the sweet spot that is the WF-C700Ns. 10/10

Perfect. I have been using these headphones for about 2 months now. the noise cancelling works wonderfully and the comfort is remarkable. The passthrough sound is hard to hear at times which almost makes them noise canceling all of the time but only a slight negative.

I went into the store for the headphones but seen them online priced at $108. they rang up 130 and the employee offered to price match because they were sold by Walmart online he called over a manager or supervisor and they refused to price match because it said “when purchased online”. im not sure if its a dumb store policy that they cant grasp or a dumb company policy. but it was a waste of store time and resources and a waste of my time and gas for me to purchase them on the way out of the store and come back the very next day for them. just to have employees go get them and walk them out to me.
please update the policy or have a talk with your supervisors
Amazing for the price. These headphones are definitely worth their price point. They replaced my AirPod pros when they went out. The sound quality is awesome; good base too. The only issue I had was that the buttons felt too similar, so I was constantly accidentally pausing my podcasts/music instead of adjusting the volume.
WH-CH720N black. I bought this pair of headphones 3 weeks ago, and the only problem i had was the button between the volume buttons stopped working in the first week. Other than that, the headphones are amazing! The sound quality is immaculate, and it fits comfortably on my head. I love the headphone app that lets you customize the equalizer in the headphones.
Great earbuds that sound and feel just right. I upgraded from the WF-C500’s after the left earbud stopped working. When the WF-C500’s were new the left earbud wouldn’t always power on when taken out of the case. Eventually the left earbud never powered on again.
I would’nt recommend the WF-C500’s because it seems a lot of people had similar issues. The WF-C700N’s though have been working perfectly. Their sound is impressive and they’re a lot more comfortable than the C500’s too. I sometimes forget I have them in.
The noise cancelling is pretty good for the price as well which was lacking for the C500’s. Just the tap of the left earbud button allows me to either shut the world out or hear my surroundings.
Overall I’m happy with my purchase of the WF-C700N’s.
Could be more crisp clarity of voice isolation. These are OK, that you can hear as long as you have them inserted completely and correctly. Sound quality varies depending on your environment. Ambient and isolation are not as good as I’ve seen. The other Sony buds are better.
Do better SONY. This headset works well and easy to set up but, is lite weight and fragile. Not to mention thin on sound quality and depth. $59.99 would be a more fitting price.
Clear bass and an equalizer app, I like it. This was a fast replacement after my Beats Studio3 headset band snapped. Again.
These came with an app- controlled sound equalizer- that is a good feature. Not as good in the comfort department as Beats Studio 3, but lightweight. The audio quality, depth, and bass is noticeably improved over what I had before.
2nd time buying these. Not because they broke but because my son lost his first pair. He had nearly 180 hours on the first pair and was devestated they were lost. These are the best and weve used apple and beats.
